How do you price your services?
Due to the bespoke nature of our services, from the brief we then price each commission on an individual basis giving a detailed specification and breakdown of skills and time/days calculated.
Our team are highly skilled professionals who are adept at delivering on time and to budget and who know how to knowledge and content share between them and work efficiently.
We aim to keep costs competitive and an excellent price point for the standard of service you receive. Our wide range of services also allows us to offer different creative options and flex to suit each client’s needs.
Podcasts and films are priced based on pre-production planning, number of crew, locations, complexity, duration and finished edit time and duration. Photography prices are calculated on a day rate, editing time and location.
Graphic design, research, writing and copy editing is calculated by time spent according to the brief. There are different options available for the cost of hand produced bespoke book binding with a range of pricing.
For events we always pass on savings to the client by waiving our cut when we work with and recommend other suppliers.
Our event management is priced at an hourly rate to give you the most transparent rates for the services you require from us. We can do as little or as much project management as you like or we can be booked just to run an event on the day.
If we underestimate our agreed proposal and the brief hasn’t changed, your price will not increase.
Who has the rights to the content you produce?
Just as the stories belong to our clients, the completed delivered content is also theirs. We own the copyright to the video, audio, written and creative content and we also hold that in archive. Photographers usually own their copyright, but they can’t reproduce your material without consent.
We will never resell or reuse a client’s content without their written permission and, if needed, an agreement of terms and conditions. We like to use content on our website and in promotional material, but we always ask permission first.
We hold all the content in secure archive up to two years in case clients return to us. If they would like their content to be held for longer, then that is an additional service.
Our non-paying contributors have access to the finished published content on public sites, but we own the material and the rights to usage.
What areas do you serve?
We travel anywhere in the UK and abroad for video, audio, copy and photographic content creation. Our remote way of working means we often don’t have geographical boundaries.
Our podcast kit can be couriered to anywhere in the British Isles.
Research, writing, and copyediting and design layout aren’t restricted by borders, just dependent on good broadband and a phone/video contact.
Our podpod caravan with our remote podcast recording kit can travel within the UK so long as travel expenses are met.
Events can be project managed and produced for anywhere in the UK. We are based in Gloucestershire and travel and overnight stays incur additional costs.
How are your services affected by COVID-19?
We can operate with distanced filming and recording wherever practicable.
As permission for micro events come and go during COVID restrictions we can adapt accordingly. We are very used to following the guidelines, especially as we have to film and record and photograph to strict guidelines.
Outdoor events and temporary structures work particularly well for small gatherings. There is nothing preventing per stellas from planning larger events further ahead in time. All our suppliers want to help make your event happen.
We record our podcasts remotely as recording studios are all hugely restricted or closed. We quarantine our kit beforehand.
Following DCMS guidelines we also have strict cleaning and operational protocols in place for filming to minimise risk to our crew and to clients and contributors.
We try to record outside as much as possible and we don’t share kit between crew.
We will supply hand gel for household groups or individuals entering our podpod caravan and when we are on location filming or recording. We interview further away from our guests for film and the hard mics will have been quarantined. We follow distancing guidelines and mask wearing indoors in close proximity to guests.
We are happy to take COVID tests if we are filming around vulnerable people and we keep a list of everyone who is in contact with others.
The health and safety of everyone involved is paramount – stringent, up to date guidelines will always be followed.
Being on location will take longer as we have to accommodate the changes imposed by the pandemic but we aim to pre-plan as much as possible to minimise that additional time.
What is your approach to sustainability?
Events are often so wasteful: single-use plastics and decorations; fresh flowers flown in from Europe, which are then discarded; rubbish and recycling mixed together in the same skip; using sub-contractors, who travel from miles away.
We look at each service we provide and think hard about our footprint. We source locally as much as possible to reduce the environmental impact of freight and to support British industry. We will never support the release of balloons or sky lanterns.
Our structure suits remote working and much as we like to have face to face meetings, we can still talk and plan and set up our services with remote working to minimise car journeys (and expenses). Where we need to plan an event, we’ll use satellite images and photography to reduce site visits.
Our filming and broadcast teams have to be on the road, but we endeavour to use local operatives wherever we can. Using higher quality and remote cameras means we can also use fewer operators.
Anything we print is produced from sustainably sourced FSC managed forests. We use a UK printing company that runs on green energy and we deliberately choose toner ink that is 100% recyclable. Our vouchers, branded stickers, packaging and ribbons are 100% recyclable. If we use foils in printing they have to be recyclable.
Our remote podcast kit is sent in packaging that has been carefully sourced so it can be reused up to 10,000 times. The plastic disposable secure clips for each pouch are 100% recyclable. Where we can, we try to send from one guest to the next to minimise journeys back to base.
Our caravan is vintage and has been restored. We like nothing better than giving a perfectly good piece of kit a new lease of life. We have to tow her at lower speeds so that means fewer emissions!
We like to transfer files to clients digitally and securely so we can reduce our use of hard storage with USBs, SSD and flash drives. If we do make copies on external drives, we encourage reuse.
